My view about sivananda yoga center:-

I was searching for a good Yoga center for a long time. Finally I zeroed in to find an excellent centre in Mylapore’ Under the leadership of yogacharya A K Srinivasan.The way he taught as helped me immensely to keep my body, mind and soul in good shape. Each yogasanas benifits were elobrated so that I could take milage of each asanas to my betterment. Undoubtedly this is the best center for learning yoga as well as advanced courses.

Everybody wants life to be happy. In childhood we have parents and gurus who make the planning part of our life and make our part simple. Thanks to their help and support. Once we grow up into adults, we need maturity to deal with life. There would be situations where we are at crossroads and need suggestion or guidance. A wrong step or not taking step in time would cost our lives.

INTEGRAL YOGA class by Sri.A.K.Srinivasanji, which I am attending, includes union of body, mind and soul. This class is teaching me good virtues which help in attainment of a fine character and give wisdom for self realization with grace of Guru.

In this class, I am learning the paths I need to follow for various situations in life and the paths I should not follow by application of body and mind initially. The situations include day to day incidents and major decisive steps.

Integral Yoga training by Sri.A.K.Srinivasanji is also giving the knowledge to handle and balance challenges in our day to day life. It has helped me to develop will power, self-confidence, clear thoughts and becoming tough/brave in certain situations where in I have to bear injury/insult from surroundings inspite of being on right path.

In totality according to me, Integral Yoga Training by Sri.A.K.Srinivasanji is similar to tempering of steel…..like steel being subjected to different conditions and made tough, Integral Yoga Training includes treatment to body, mind and soul and making me tough and stronger person to lead a balanced life.

Wisdom of my Ancestors

I am in my mid-30s, married and have 2 children. My unique life trajectory exposed me to knowledge of Indian scriptures and the wisdom of my ancestors at a relatively young age. It also gave me an experience of world affairs through my brief career.

Soon, I realised that I just couldn’t reconcile my values with my profession. There was immense conflict within me and I became increasingly disillusioned with the world. I was depressed. I went through, what is called, mid-life crisis.

I needed help. I reached out to psychiatrists. The counselling sessions revealed, to me, the psychiatrist’s muddled understanding of life. I realised that if I trusted him, instead of being of help, he would lead me further into obscurity. The approach of modern psychology is totally contradictory to the real vision of life as revealed by our masters.

It was then that providence led me to Yoga Acharya Sri A.K. Srinivasan. On my first interaction with him, I knew that here was the man who could truly help me come out of my plight.

Getting him to accept me as a student was not an easy task. In addition to being grilled and interviewed at several levels, he put me through several tests to check my competence and dedication. It was due to the sheer grace of God that I endured them all and finally convinced him of my eligibility.

Yoga Acharya Sri A.K. Srinivasan’s teaching methods are nonpareil. The course he has designed is a splendid blend of physical yoga exercises and the philosophy behind them.

Apart from being an adept practitioner of the physical yoga exercises, he is a magician when it comes to training others. While I was familiar with the philosophy, what I have learnt under him is its practical application. It has removed all confusions from my mind and has infused me with renewed vigour to face life. In a short span of six months, he has completely transformed my stiff body and ego.

Words cannot do justice to his invaluable contribution to my life.

I pray to the almighty to grant him boundless success.

I came to know about Swamy Sivanandha Saraswathi only after joining this course which has enlightened me by reading swamy ji books, now I am trying to follow certain thoughts. Theory classes proved to be extremely good. We have really been benefited from the classes. Though, I have been following some of these teachings earlier, will try to follow them 100% in the near future.

Before joining this course, I have been doing yoga for the last 3 to 4 years. But, it is only for fitness and keeping the body in good condition. Only after joining this course, I am aware of the fact that Yoga is not only for fitness of the body but it is for body, mind and soul. My Asanas and postures got corrected and happy to do these in right way.

LEARNING THE TRUTH

Greetings to everyone. I am Sandhya Manogaran (23yrs old) one of the blessed student of Guru. Sri.A.k.Srinivasan.

I’m practising yoga for the past 7 yrs. Yoga was a different understanding for me before I joined this divine course undertaken by my Guru.SRI.A.K.Srinivasan. He slowly explained me the beautiful aspects of yoga and their divisions such as Karma yoga, Bhakthi yoga, Raja yoga and Jnana yoga. It gave me the understanding of yoga is nothing but “the art of living”. It is the mastery of body, mind and soul. Guruji gave me immense knowledge and enriched me and always humbly says that he is an instrument, a tool to convey the great teachings of our Gurudev Swami Sivananda Maharaj.

My very first session of class made me feel that I ‘am in the right place to learn yoga. It was unlike the classes I’ve attended earlier. Classes were taken from the depth of roots. Every day was more and more of learning here. Guruji gave me the clear picture of ‘need’ and ‘want’ which was the first step that I took to travel inward direction.

Each class thought me great life lessons. Moulded me in such a way that I will be able to face any obstacles in life. This programme helped me to change myself. I’ve experienced a positive change in me physically and mentally. Now my journey has just began and my perspective towards life is completely changed.

Practicing yoga was my “HAPPINESS” but after acknowledging the right knowledge it is my state of “PEACE”.

Finally I understood that “don’t practice yoga to get better at yoga but practice yoga to get better at living”.

I’m feeling very proud and blessed to follow the footsteps of Swami Sivananda Maharaj.

“TOMORROW’S SOLUTION TODAY”

Why you want to learn and what made you to come here to learn yoga at this age? This is the first question from Guruji . Yoga Acharya.Sri.A.K.Srinivasan to me. While the whole world is speaking the materialistic language, I found it different when these questions are asked to me, there I decided to join in the Sivananda Yoga Kendra. I don’t have any prior knowledge on yoga till I joined the course, but now I can proudly say I knew something in yoga, and the entire credit for that goes to Guruji. Yoga Acharya.Sri.A.K.Srinivasan. It was a wonderful experience till date.

The objective of the Teachers Training course is well defined and it is taught in a phased manner. During the course itself, you can find changes in your day-to day life, and the motto of “Be Happy and make others Happy” will be in back of your mind on all your actions.

I thoroughly enjoyed this course, and it helped me where to lead next; to me the course is like “Tomorrow’s solution Today”.

It’s my pride privilege to introduce myself as D. Nandini a blessed student of SRI Sivananda Yoga Kendra,BVB, Chennai. I am learning yoga for the past four years under the able guidance of Sri A.K. Srinivasan, Yoga Acharya, who is an ardent devotee of Swamiji and his teachings. Guruji’s blessings and strong faith and devotion helps our yoga master to do selfless service to the society.

This was the message that I learnt on the very first day in my yoga class in 2014. Now after four years of practice, I realized that this ounce of practice in my daily life has made all the difference. Thanks to my Guru.

SYK strongly believes in integral yoga. I got the wonderful opportunity to learn all the four types of yogas such as Karma yoga ,Bakthi yoga ,Raja yoga and Gnana yoga. When I practise all these yogas regularly, I become physically and mentally strong.

As a teacher, I am able to inculcate strong values in the students, motivate them to have clear thoughts and also able to encourage them to build self-confidence in them.

As a mother of two kids, I have learnt to accept the reality with open mind. This quality has enhanced to live a contented life.

Yoga has taught me to do selfless service, to be committed, being good to nature, kind and generous to people and to the society. I am trying to be calm and composed to face the challenges in this world. I never miss the yoga class as I enjoy doing the asanas which keeps me physically fit and has enhanced me to attain the finest character.

“I am Subiksha loganathan, an Architect by profession, inspired by yoga from childhood. After all
these years, I found the right place and guru to learn what I was searching. I am happy to have
completed this 6 months integral yoga course with the support of my parents and guru.

Initially, when I was introduced to yoga I was thinking only in the body level but with god’s blessing
after meeting A K Srinivasan sir, I understood that integral yoga is fittest of body, mind and soul and
to attain the finest character. This learning period has gradually bought in many modifications in my
lifestyle, the way I look at any problems and a clarity in my thoughts.

Yoga means union. It shows us how to unite all our life forces by directing them inward. The goal is
“To be happy and make others happy”

I understand the life of spirituality and its essence in daily life.

“An ounce of practice is equal to tons of theory”

This phrase has changed a lot in all my activities, I believe these changes will make a huge impact in
my future.

Yoga philosophies and the lessons of Upanishad and vedas made me realise the most important
factor of balancing my material life with the spiritual/yogic life. By following Guru dev’s 6 words
messages “Serve Love Give Purify Meditate Realise” that are connected to the 4 types of yoga –
karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, Raja yoga and Jnana yoga in daily life I can experience the harmony with
body, mind and soul.

I am grateful to have gotten this opportunity to travel with my guru A K Srinivasan sir, a humble
person who has dedicated his life to spread his immense knowledge and wisdom to his students and
teachers. My family and I are blessed to have found this bondage with A K Srinivasan sir, to go in the
right path.

MY INTEGRAL YOGA EXPERIENCE

10-Apr-2019 (Wednesday)

It was during the end of July last year, it suddenly struck me and I had a feel that I should try learning yoga. Without any prior experience in yoga, meditation and such other activities, I didn’t know where to search. With a humble backing of having browsed on the net on this subject, One day just passed by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, noticed the banner and entered to enquire. There I got the opportunity to meet Srinivasan Sir, he chatted with me for 10 minutes and somehow I made up my mind and joined then and there to have some initial feel on this body, mind and spiritual voyage.

After one month of attending classes regularly, Sir motivated and gave me confidence to start with the Yoga teachers training course. Thus my journey continued from Oct-2018 and it has been a wonderful experience till date.

This course has taught me not only yoga but also calmness, resolute confidence and to look at life with a better perspective. Here yoga is taught in a slow and steady manner, there is no pressure to perform, one can take time to tune oneself to the core principles of yoga and learn the art of yoga steadily with simultaneously integrating those principles in ones day-to-day life to achieve success, satisfaction and peace of mind.

Now having completed the course I have become a rejuvenated person and wish to have a continued association with Sivananda Yoga Kendra.

REWARDING EXPERIENCE

My humble pranams to H.H.Sri Swami.Sivanandaji and to my Guruji, Yogacharya Sri.A.K.Srinivasan, who have taken all the effort to complete the Yoga Instructor Course.Both my father, Shri.G. S. R. Sarma and my mother Srimati.G. Lakshmi Sarma were regular visitors to Bhavan at one time. They introduced us to the Bhavan’s Journal which had a strong influence on me. I thank them for that.

It has been a rewarding experience these past six months and the entire credit for that goes to Guruji Yogaacharya.Sri.A.K.Srinivasan. His unwavering positivity and straightforward dedication to spreading the message of Yoga is something I hope to carry forward as his student. Joining was something which happened by chance – I was thinking of visiting Bhavan when I was at Mylapore and I saw the billboard for Yoga Instructor Course. It was an immediate decision and somehow no second thoughts occurred. I did not even notice that there was another Yoga class here – as I was interested in teacher’s course. What I am trying today, is that this was destined to happen and I am grateful that it did.

Physically and Mentally the course has been very helpful. It has given me energy and a far more positive outlook than usual. Being a teacher and a trainer, I have a tendency of finding things to correct rather than finding things to praise! Here I have learnt to praise first and, correct later – if required.

The yeomen service which Bhavan has done and is still doing is well known to all of us here. Heartfelt thanks to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Director Sri.K.N.Ramaswamy for understanding the value of Guruji’s Sivananda Yoga and giving it the infrastructural as well as moral support.Swami Sivananda’s message is essentially the same as that of Bhavan’s – that of upholding and spreading Indian traditions and culture and the upliftment of the individual. It is certain that Sivananda’s message will be a powerful part of Bhavan’s activities in the future too.

Last and certainly not the least, my thanks goes to my family members and their support and sacrifice is an integral part of this yoga too! I am thankful to them, especially my wife, Sri. Selvi. For her unconditional support. I hope and pray My son,Master Omkar and Daughter Aruna gets inspired to learn Integral Yoga in the future .

This is just the beginning of the journey, but the impetus received

Here will surely help propel me, my family and perhaps future students on the path of

My daughter Netra and I did the teachers training course at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Sivananda Yoga under the tutelage of Shri AK Srinivasan.

This was a great self discovery process for me guided by the teacher. I enjoyed the ideas debates conversations and learnings.
